Plotwist (“we,” “us”) makes AI-generated party games — bingo, would-you-rather, trivia, and more — at plotwist.games. This policy explains what we collect, why, and who we share it with. We try to keep it plain and specific to how the product actually works, rather than a wall of boilerplate.
What we collect
We keep data collection to what the product needs to run:
- Account email. We use passwordless “magic link” sign-in, so we store the email address you sign in with. We do not store passwords.
- Game content. The prompts, occasions, names, and other text you enter to generate a game, plus the games we generate for you.
- Payment data. When you buy a game or subscribe, payment is handled by Stripe. We never see or store your full card number — Stripe does. We keep a record of your purchases and subscription status.
- Product analytics. We use PostHog to understand which features get used and where people get stuck. This includes page views and in-app events, associated with an anonymous analytics identifier.
- Advertising & measurement (future). We may in the future add advertising or measurement pixels (for example, to run ads or measure their effectiveness). We are noting this now so it is not a surprise; this policy will be updated with specifics before any such pixels go live.
How we use it
We use the data above to:
- Create and store the games you ask for, and let you share and play them.
- Sign you in, remember your entitlements, and process payments.
- Send you the emails you need (magic links, receipts, and account notices).
- Understand product usage in aggregate so we can fix and improve things.
- Keep the service secure and prevent abuse.
We do not sell your personal data. We do not use your private game content to train third-party AI models.
Third-party processors
To run Plotwist we rely on a small set of trusted providers. Each only receives the data it needs to do its job:
- Supabase — database, authentication, and storage for your account and games.
- Stripe — payment processing and subscription billing.
- PostHog — product analytics.
- Resend — transactional email delivery (magic links, receipts).
- Upload-Post — publishing content to social platforms, when you choose to share.
- Anthropic — the AI that generates your games from your prompts.
Data retention
We keep your account and purchased games while your account is active. Games created on the free tier expire and are removed 5 days after creation. Payment records are retained as required for accounting and tax purposes. If you delete your account, we remove your personal data except where we are required to keep records by law.
Your rights
You can request access to the personal data we hold about you, ask us to correct it, or ask us to delete your account and associated data. To make a request, email us at hello@plotwist.games. Depending on where you live, you may have additional rights under laws like the GDPR or CCPA.
Children’s privacy
Plotwist is not directed at children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal data from them. If you believe a child has provided us personal data, contact us and we will delete it.
